Based on the box cover, I had high hopes for Tiger Claws 3. Cynthia Rothrock is joined on the front by three mean looking villians all dressed in black. You'd think it would be safe to assume that the movie would have something to do with CR fighting against these three baddies. You'd be wrong. Tiger Claws 3 is just another vehicle for Jalal Merhi.

I've never been a huge fan of the Tiger Claws series. The first two movies left me thinking that someone in the movie industry made them on a dare. So I was admittedly biased against the latest movie in the trilogy, Tiger Claws 3: The Final Chapter.

Merhi returns to his role as Terek, the 'cop on the edge(tm)' in New York City. Cynthia Rothrock is his partner/girlfriend, Linda Masterson. Loren Avedon plays Striker, the head villian. Bolo Yeung, who played the villian in the last two Tiger Claw films, only appears through a flashback(aka, footage from TC1)

You have to bear with me while I explain the plot. It's a little wacky so there's a good chance you won't believe me. Here goes. Striker is an evil kung fu student who uses his powers and some evil ancient clothes to bring three assassins back to life(yes.. I said evil ,clothes, and assassins in the same sentence). He wants to use thier ancient dark powers to help him take over New York's China Town(just China Town, not the Bronx or Harlem... he might be evil, but he ain't crazy). Terek and Linda find him at museum opening and try to stop him. Linda gets killed and Terek enlists the aid of an aging kung fu master to train him so he can battle the evil spirits of the kung fu assassins and avenge the death of his girlfriend. Did I mention the evil spirits of the kung fu assassins are super strong and can shoot lighting from their hands?

Did you catch the part where i said Linda dies? That's right, Cynthia Rothrock's character is killed off in the first 15 minutes of the movie. She's has the biggest picture on the cover and she's in almost none of the film. As a matter of fact, I don't see this guy Jalal Merhi's picture anywhere on the cover at all and he's in almost every scene! I was tricked! Bamboozled! Led astray! Obviously since I run a site called the Rothrock World Order, I wasn't too pleased with the small CR content in a movie that has CR plastered all over it. Sometimes I wish false advertising was a felony.

There's always a chance that the movie will still be good right? Wrong again. The plot is already tipping the goofy scales, but TC3 wasn't satisfied with evil, lighting shooting assassins from ancient China. An overzealous cop is also after Terek because...well, it's never really clear why the other cop is after Terek. But with lines line 'Im gonna nail you to the floor!', it doesn't matter much why the overzealous cop is after him. Halfway through the movie I was rooting for him to toss Terek in prison, guilty or not. .

The fight scenes are lack-luster. The acting is either wooden or way over the top. And the really bad special effects don't help either. You can find better effects in most homemade Star Wars fan films on the internet. And that's not an exaggeration

Overall, Tiger Claws 3 is my least favorite of the Tiger Claws series. Loren Avedon is good as the evil bad guy. Cynthia and Jalal have some good banter and chemistry when they're on screen together. And The overzealous cop has some funny lines. But all of that isn't enough to save this movie from the pits of bad film hell. If you -have- to see a Tiger Claws flick, rent the first one and quit while you're ahead.

Best Fight Scene
Linda and Terek vs Evil Assissin Sprits:
It was a really good fight.. right up until people started shooting lighting from their hands.

Best Quote
Linda: From now on when I go out with you, I'm wearing pants!
