Review by Nathan Wishart

It's been quite awhile since I've seen a Cynthia Rothrock movie where she doesn't disappear from the movie she's supposed to be starring in. Quite a welcome change to see her in something solid then, definitely. I have to say, after watching her in Sworn to Justice, this is probably her next best effort. It's a very good all round effort, a very evil, villainous performance by Stephen Nichols and also his sidekick Alex-Hyde White. These two are about the only one's who at least do something with their characters, everyone else seems to be going through the mentions.

So where do I begin with the story. I guess it all starts off in a bar(where all evil men with grand plans for world domination start) where 2 men are playing pool. Another man strolls into the bar where he is greeted by Dutch Leonard(Stephen Nichols) A rather industrious person with an intent to rid the world of Non-White races. He is ably assisted by his sidekick Lane(Alex Hyde-White) as they both go about their evil business. The man has entered the bar to tell Dutch that he longer wants to be part of his grand, wholesome scheme and I guess Dutch doesn't take it too well as he assaults him with a pool cue. Dutch tells him to go home and stage a hostage situation with his girlfriend and stepson and to wait for further instructions. The man does so and Dutch reveals the first part of his ever so clever plan to catch, rape, torture, murder and anything else you can think up to do to Kate Mason(Cynthia Rothrock). The first part of his plan involves telling the FBI/Police about a possible cache of weapons at a particular address. We then move onto Kate Mason, who wipes the floor with 5 men until we see it's just a training exercise. She's then called out to a hostage situation, so she and her partner Donald (Wil Shriner) are sent out to sort it out. Needless to say they end up clashing with the gung-ho leader of a SWAT, who botches it up for everybody by killing the girlfriend and stepson and leaving the husband to grieve. We then end up in the office of a Judge(with political aspirations, don't they all have them) who proceeds to tell them why he's letting the husband go, and they don't like it, not one bit. After they've been dismissed Kate manages to catch a glimpse of what seems to be a bribe by one of the lawyers to the judge(the judge takes it, naturally) and before we know it Kate Mason's quit the FBI. She returns home to see her sherriff father(Echoes of China O'Brien anyone) and also her highschool sweetheart, the deputy. As soon as she returns home she is immediately introduced to Dutch Leonard as friend of the deputy's. Kate soon starts up her own investigation into the whole hostage affair but it doesn't take long for her and her father to be assaulted which Cynthia has no problem in containing up until she's sucker punched by the guy who blames her for his family getting massacred and held at gunpoint and about to be shot, lucky then, that her father came to her rescue by shooting him. She then continues her investigation and finds out that Dutch Leonard had a brother whom she caused the death of and wouldn't you know it her father get's shot, the deputy turns out to be crooked(his excuse is, he only wanted to be sherriff). Kate goes on the warpath and finds an abandoned warehouse where's she's caught looking at something she shouldn't and is caught by Dutch and Lane. A lot of ass kicking ensues once Cynthia escapes including a superb fight between Cynthia and Douglas Kung(the fight choreographer) and Cynthia saves the day.

Admittedly I gave you the short version because there's too much going on to really lay it all out but I really did like the fight scene's, it was almost like a throwback to her HK days which was nice, I think she should work with Douglas Kung more often, her films would be much better for it, unfortunately the fights were very short which is real shame.
