Irresistable Force is a movie with a slightly checkered past but you'd never know by watching it. It's a joy to watch from start to finish. Cynthia Rothrock (Charlotte) stars with Stacy Keach(Sam), as two cops who have their own way of doing things. Paul Winfield also shows up as the gruff police chief. Sound like a prime time action series? Starky and Hutch? Miami Vice? That's because Irresistable Force -is- a prime time action series.Well it was a pilot that didn't get picked up for reasons that make no sense at all.
The plot consists of terrorists taking over a high tech mall and Sam and Charlotte are the only two cops who can save the hostages. This is where IF starts to distance itself from the pack of other terrorist movies. Cynthia Rothrock is the cop on the inside of the mall taking out the bad guys while Stacy Keach is on the outside talking to a radio. Cool!CR+MASS reversed! CR is does a really good job with the action too. Pretty hard hitting stuff considering this is a made for TV movie. The one liners after she takes out a bad guy don't hurt either.
Keach and Rothrock work well together and both are fun to watch. Keach comes off perfectly as the veteran cop who's slightly past his prime but still wants to get in on the action. And CR is great as the young hot head rookie who jumps into the fray at a moments notice. The movie is fairly straightforward, and you won't be surprised by anything that happens, but there's no way you'll be dissapointed either.
Best Fight Scene Cynthia Rothrock vs Generic Badguy: Near the end, CR faces off with a terrorist around a bunch of poison gas cannisters. The fight is the longest in the movie and allows CR to just show off to her heart's content.
