by Nathan Wishart First thing's first, I'll start off with a short look at the film's plot. A young Chinese man called Kent Tong has some information on the whereabouts of a piece of microfilm. He tries to use it as a bargaining chip to get out of America safely, he is doublecrossed and is interrogated about its whereabouts. Cynthia shows up and proceeds to kick everybody's ass, Kent Tong escapes. Kent Tong arrives in Hong Kong and arranges a meeting with a Japanese crime boss, but he never gets to meet him because he is taken to the station by two CID detectives (Miu-Kiu-Wai and Shing-Fui-On) these two detectives are told to look after him but he escapes again. Cynthia is brought in and the race is on to find Kent to which they start by finding his sister May. Shock Horror, Cynthia actually gets a boyfriend in the form of Shing-Fui-On and it's very comical the way they find out they have feeling's for each other, he gets jeered by his partner because intends to change his name to Richard once they move to America. I think that this was more a comedy than anything else because it did have some genuinely funny scene's in it, but we don't watch Cynthia for Comedy, we watch her to kick butt and Kick butt she does. Apart from the warehouse fight at the end, the only one that comes close to matching it is her fight with a Yakuza boss who tries the old Slice and Dice method with a Japanese sword. What makes it cooler is the fact that there is another henchman trying to get his hand's on her and she has to fend off both of them, how she does it is just pure magic. But the final fight is the one that we all await, her showdown with Michiko Nishiwaki. Cynthia once again manages to fend both Michiko and another heavy and they both get their fair share of kick's and punches, the knockout blow Cynthia delivers to Michiko has to be seen to be believed and it's pretty brutal, can't imagine anyone getting up from that. So what is it, a comedy or an action, a little bit of both I'd say but it all amounts to the same thing, a Cynthia Rothrock film which I'd definitely use as an introduction to her talents.
