Cynthia Rothrock plays Linda Masterson, a police detective on the trail of a serial killer. The killer is picking off martial arts masters one by one. She is teamed with renegade cop T. Richards(Jalal Merhi). But wait, this is one of those dreaded 'Rothrock + male action star' films. Which means that the meat of the film is taken up by this Jalal guy mumbling about how training 'Tiger Style' can push you to the edge. We see Jalal training, Jalal fighting and Jalal talking. And Cynthia Rothrock is relegated to sitting in the car listening to the action via a remote transmitter. Cynthia does have a few good fight scenes. Well, only one actually, but it's with Bolo Yeung, the incredible guy who fought Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon and against Van Damme in Blood Sport. But since this is a 'Rothrock + male action star' film, CR isn't allowed to actually win the fight, instead a handcuffed Jalal gets to finish him off.
If CR wasn't in this movie, Tiger Claws would be a throwaway martial arts flick. Rothrock's presence helps, but in the end, it doesn't save the movie from mediocrity. If you see it on cable, just flip back to it near the end to see the CR vs Bolo battle. Otherwise, avoid it.
Best Fight Scene Cynthia Rothrock vs Bolo Yeung. Near the end of the film these two trade blows on a dock. One of the better moments in an otherwise bad movie.
