Cynthia Rothrock returns as Lori 'China' O'Brien. This sequel is set two years after the the original(although both movies were filmed pretty much simultaneously). Richard Norton and Keith Cooke both reprise their roles as Matt and Dakota respectively. The basis for the movie is that China has to stop an escaped criminal from killing her neighbor's family. The villian in this film, Baskin, isn't nearly as good as the bad guy from the first China O'Brien. Maybe it's because he goes through the whole film with a goofy looking cowboy hat on. Or maybe it's that all of his henchmen are really incompetant.
Something about China O'Brien 2 just doesn't click. It has all the right ingredients of a action movie, but they don't seem to fit. The fight scenes are okay, but sometimes the camera is sped up and the efffect seems cartoony. The big fight scene(s) at the end don't quite match up to the first films finale.
I don't want to make China O'Brien 2 sound like a real turkey, because it's really a fairly decent action film. But watching it immediatly after a fun movie like the original China O'Brien only brings it's flaws out front. If you're in the video store to get a CR double header, you won't be disappointed with the China O'Brien series, just watch them in reverse order.
Best Fight Scene: Cynthia Rothrock vs The Bad Guys. At the end of the movie, there's a big fight in which all the main characters see some action. CR takes out her fair share without even breathing hard.
