Here it is, Cynthia Rothrock's very first film. In 1985, Yes Madam was released in Hong Kong. It starred an unknown American martial artist, Cynthia Rothrock(Inspector Carrie Morris) and a beauty queen named Michelle Yeoh(Officer Ng). It goes without saying that the film was a huge hit. Yes Madam launched the careers of 2 of the best action actresses in the world. For a while, this movie was fairly difficult to find outside of Hong Kong, but in 1998 it was rereleased on DVD. Who says dreams don't come true?  The plot of Yes Madam is very familiar to HK movie fans. Two cops go up againt a big time crime boss against to wishes of thier superiors. But Yes Madam has a bit more going for it. Action director Tsui Hark has a small but funny role as a con artist in over his head, and Samo Hung has a cameo as the mentor of bumbling crooks.
Michelle Yeoh and Cynthia Rothock's characters are almost polar opposites. Ng is a mostly by the book cop who actually cares about stuff like due process. Carrie Morris on the other hand, would rather kick a criminal in the face than read him his rights.Both Yeoh and Rothrock give very good performances and the action scenes are solid. To be honest, I've watched the film 3 times now and I'm still not sure about the exact plot. Something to do with a peice of film or counterfiet guns. But it doesn't matter, you don't buy a DVD in another language for intricate plot devices, you get it for the action. Yes Madam doesn't dissapoint. The fight scenes are imaginative and fast moving with a little humor thrown in for good measure. YesMadam is a solid action movie that does exactly what it sets out to do, entertain the viewer with lots of beatdowns and a couple of great actresses ,too. Best Fight Scene: The final fight scene in the boss's mansion. (isn't there always a fight scene in the boss's mansion?) Cynthia Rothrock and Michelle Yeoh in a back to back battle againt numerous nameless thugs....life doesn't get much better than that. Best Quote: Criminal-You're so rude, no one will marry you.
